Maxima ebor - texture
The smooth sanded texture of the Ebor range is particularly effective when used in the maxima linear 327mm linear format.
The characteristics slightly irregular arises give are more pronounced on the long dimension giving a ‘natural’ look to the brick.
The subtle creasing of the brick adds to the characterful varied appearance of the brick.
The ‘linear’ effect can be further pronounced by opting for the ultra-thin 37mm option.

York Handmade can manufacture all of our Viking texture range in the linear format, initially developed by Scandinavian brick makers. We are one of the few Uk manufacturers that make the waterstuck linear combination. This allows us to offer this popular size in the York Handmade colour blends and textures that result from the uniqueness of our clay and refined manufacturing process.
The 327mm linear format optimizes the look of the brickwork with the combination of the elongated size of the brick with the elegance of the waterstruck finish.
Waterstruck maxima bricks have become very popular in recent years particularly in the linear format.
Varying temperatures during firing give the bricks their diverse textures and beautiful shades.

Be inspired - Maxima Long Format Bricks
York Handmade supplied 200,000 specially manufactured Maxima bricks for a stunning state-of-the-art development at 25 Baker Street, in the heart of London’s West End.
Mike Taylor, Principal, Hopkins Architects, who designed 25 Baker Street, enthused: “We were looking for a brick that fitted into the Georgian heritage setting but needed to work well with our setting out in a stretcher bond. The 327x50mm York Handmade gave us a subtle variation of colour and texture and the elongated shape provides an elegant modern appearance.”
This significant contract was worth £276,000 to York Handmade, one of the leading independent brickmakers in the country.
25 Baker Street is a joint venture development between Derwent London and The Portman Estate.
The project features a 200,000 sq ft office building, 42 residential apartments, 10 affordable housing units developed in conjunction with Native Land, and 20,000sq ft of prime retail space. A public arcade beneath the centre of the office block will lead to a new landscaped courtyard, and a route out through the Georgian terrace on nearby Gloucester Place.
David Armitage, Chairman of York Handmade stated: “In a wider context, our work on this stunning development marks over a decade of York Handmade Brick’s involvement in reshaping the look of England’s capital city. During the past 14 years we have provided the bricks for some of London’s most stunning new buildings. Many of these have also used the linear format brick including The Shard, The Carmelite Embankment, One Molyneux, Marylebone Thayer Street, and Cadence at Kings Cross.
25 Baker Street will be completed next year.
